Ichang Papeda

Ichang Papeda (Citrus ichangensis)

ESSENTIAL OIL

A primordial relative of modern citrus fruits, the Ichang papeda is an ancient species of citrus fruit that dates back to the early stages of citrus speciation. It predates the modern citrus fruits, which emerged from the hybridization of these early populations. The essential oil of C. ichangensis has a variable percentage (as well as yields) with a high dispersion of limonene , and high levels of β-bisabolene and d 'intermedéol.

With its thick, rugged rind, the Ichang papeda has a rich, sweet, and slightly woody fragrance, but  mainly for us is reminest of Yuzu (Citrus junos).

FRUIT

It is adapted to colder climates compared to other citrus species, which makes it unique among its relatives. While the fruit itself is not widely consumed due to its sour and bitter taste, the Ichang papeda has significant horticultural value and can sometimes be grown as ornamental plants .
